Examples of accessible locations
Miyako Island Underwater Park

This is a semi-submersible underwater observation facility located in the northern part of Miyako Island. Through 24 large acrylic panel windows, you can directly view the sea around Miyako Island at a depth of approximately 3 meters. Its greatest appeal is that you can observe colorful tropical fish, coral, and sea turtles swimming without getting wet or having to dive. There is no need to worry about seasickness, and the facility is not easily affected by the weather.
Accessibility Information
Wheelchair lift installation (for access to underwater facilities)
Barrier-free restrooms are available (in the administration building).
There are no steps from the parking lot to the entrance.
Admission fee discount available upon presentation of disability certificate.
Irabu Bridge

Opened in 2015, this 3,540-meter-long free bridge connects Miyako Island and Irabu Island. The sea viewed from the bridge is a gradient of "Miyako Blue," with layers of emerald green, cobalt blue, and turquoise. It is considered one of the most beautiful bridges in Japan. Because you can enjoy the spectacular scenery on both sides while driving across, it is a spot that can be fully enjoyed by wheelchair users as well.
Accessibility Information
Since it is a crossing by car, there are no restrictions on wheelchair access.
There are viewpoints at both ends of the bridge (you can enjoy the view from the parking lot).
Shigira Beach

This natural beach is located within the Shigira Seven Miles Resort on the southern coast of Miyako Island. As it is part of a resort complex, it boasts the most comprehensive accessibility features on the island. The crystal-clear waters offer the chance to encounter sea turtles while snorkeling. Beach chairs and parasols are available for rent, allowing you to fully enjoy the tropical resort atmosphere.
Accessibility Information
Barrier-free ramps are available to the beach entrance.
Parking spaces available for people with disabilities.
Toilets, showers, and changing rooms are available.
Examples of accessible restaurants
Koja Soba Restaurant

Founded in 1932, this is a long-established soba restaurant representing Miyako Island. Their signature dish, featuring chewy homemade Miyako soba noodles topped with pork ribs, pork loin, and fish cake, is exquisite. The gentle bonito broth soup is so delicious you'll want to come back again and again. It's about a 5-minute drive from Hirara Port.
