Examples of accessible locations
Ishigaki Yaima Village

This is Ishigaki Island's largest theme park, featuring relocated and restored traditional red-tiled houses from the Yaeyama Islands. Visitors can enjoy activities such as playing the sanshin (Okinawan stringed instrument), painting Shisa (Okinawan guardian lion statues), and weaving in these houses, which are registered as national tangible cultural properties. In the free area, Bolivian squirrel monkeys roam freely, and the experience of feeding them by hand is extremely popular. With mangrove walking paths and water buffalo sightings, this spot encapsulates the nature and culture of Yaeyama.

Kabira Bay

Located in the northwestern part of Ishigaki Island, this is Ishigaki Island's premier scenic spot, having earned three stars in the Michelin Green Guide Japan. The white sandy beaches and the gradient of the sea, which changes from emerald green to cobalt blue, are known as "Kabira Blue," and the color changes moment by moment depending on the viewing angle and weather. Coral reefs spread throughout the bay, and you can observe the beautiful coral and tropical fish underwater from a glass-bottom boat. Swimming is prohibited, but this helps to preserve the untouched natural environment.
Accessibility Information
The view from the observation deck is accessible by wheelchair.
There are a few steps to take when boarding the glass-bottom boat (staff assistance is available, prior consultation is recommended).
The path from the parking lot to the observation area is relatively flat.
Banna Park (Banna Forest Park)

Located about 15 minutes by car from Ishigaki city center, this vast prefectural forest park covers approximately 279 hectares and is centered around Mt. Banna, which rises to an altitude of 230m. The main attraction is the "Emerald Sea View Observation Deck." From the observation deck, which rises to an altitude of approximately 210m, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the emerald green sea below, Ishigaki city, and the islands of the Yaeyama Islands, including Taketomi Island, Kohama Island, and Iriomote Island.
The park is lush with subtropical plants, and you can encounter rare creatures such as the crested serpent eagle (a natural monument) and the large white butterfly (the largest butterfly in Japan). There is also a world insect museum and a butterfly garden, making it a great spot to enjoy nature.
