Asakusa Sumo Stable

This sumo entertainment facility is located in the heart of Asakusa, and its greatest attraction is that you can enjoy a full-scale sumo show performed by former sumo wrestlers, along with the chanko nabe that the wrestlers actually eat.
Watching a sumo practice at a typical sumo stable requires cramped viewing space, steep steps, and long periods of sitting upright, making it nearly impossible for wheelchair users to participate. However, at this facility, you can watch from the front row in your wheelchair on the first floor, and feel the vibrations of the ring and the breathing of the wrestlers up close.
The show will feature a full 120-minute course of things to see, experience and do, including demonstrations of shikomizu, matatewari and finishing moves, as well as an experience corner where you can put on a mawashi and challenge a sumo wrestler, commemorative photos on the ring, and a Q&A session with a former sumo wrestler.
The front row VIP seats are wheelchair accessible and are extremely popular as they allow you to watch sumo practice up close.
Kyoto Sumo Stable

This sumo entertainment facility opened in December 2025 as the sister store (third store) of the Asakusa Sumo Stable. The Kyoto store's unique content includes a dance performance by two geisha girls and the traditional Japanese game "Tora Tora ." The greatest feature is that you can experience sumo culture and Kyoto's entertainment district culture at the same time.
The show consists of a reenactment of morning practice, an explanation of the rules, a best-of-three match, and a sumo challenge, with live commentary in both English and Japanese, making it easy for overseas visitors to enjoy. The meal includes all-you-can-eat and all-you-can-drink chanko nabe (hot pot), inari sushi (sushi rice balls), fried chicken, dessert, and various drinks. Conveniently located just a 3-minute walk from Kyoto Kawaramachi Station on the subway and a 7-minute walk from Gion-Shijo Station. There's also a wide selection of original goods and souvenirs, so you can take home a memento of your experience.
Chanko nabe

Chanko nabe, known as the meal of sumo wrestlers, is a dish that allows you to experience Japanese sumo culture through your senses. The chanko at the Asakusa Sumo Stable is a "special soy sauce chanko nabe" overseen by a former sumo wrestler, and is characterized by a light yet rich flavor, made with a blend of four types of broth: chicken, bonito, kelp, and shiitake mushroom. Made with carefully selected ingredients, it's delicious right down to the last bite. Vegan and vegetarian options can be requested in advance when making a reservation (gluten-free options are not available).
Option: Caregiver taxi transfer

For those who are worried about getting from their home or accommodation to the venue, we can arrange door-to-door transportation by a caregiver taxi. You can board the taxi in your wheelchair, so you can enjoy the experience without the stress of traveling. If you would like this service, please feel free to contact us when you apply.
