Tour Overview
This tour takes you to two World Heritage sites that Hiroshima wants to share with the world—the Atomic Bomb Dome and Itsukushima Shrine—using a completely barrier-free route.
In the morning, we'll explore Hiroshima's history and the story of its reconstruction at the fully barrier-free Peace Memorial Park and Museum. After enjoying a local specialty, okonomiyaki, for lunch in Hiroshima city, we'll take a ferry to Miyajima. The JR Miyajima Ferry has a fully barrier-free first floor with a dedicated wheelchair area. On Miyajima, you can visit the Itsukushima Shrine, which has ramps, while remaining in your wheelchair.
This special tour, which connects two World Heritage sites in one day, is especially recommended for those who thought, "I can't go to Miyajima because I'm in a wheelchair."

Examples of accessible locations
Atomic Bomb Dome (Peace Memorial Park)

On August 6, 1945, Hiroshima was the first city in the world to be hit by an atomic bomb. Peace Memorial Park, built near the hypocenter, was completed in 1954 as a tribute to the victims and a prayer for lasting peace. The museum, which was renovated in 2019, is praised both domestically and internationally as "a place everyone should visit at least once in their lifetime." The park is dotted with landmarks such as the Atomic Bomb Dome, the Cenotaph for the Atomic Bomb Victims, the Flame of Peace, and the Children's Peace Monument, allowing visitors to spend time reflecting on peace while strolling through the lush green grounds.
Accessibility Information
All the walkways in the park are flat and paved.
The museum is equipped with an elevator and has 6 wheelchairs available for loan.
Multipurpose restroom: Ostomate-friendly, adult diaper changing station available.
Admission is free with presentation of a disability certificate.
Vehicles for people with disabilities are permitted to enter the park.
Itsukushima Shrine (Miyajima)

This World Heritage site, said to have been founded in 593, is known for its shrine floating on the sea. Taira no Kiyomori rebuilt it to its current form in 1168, and the shrine, whose appearance changes with the ebb and flow of the tide, is one of Japan's three most scenic views. The 16-meter-tall torii gate standing in the sea underwent major repairs in 2022, restoring its vermilion color. As you stroll through the corridors inside the shrine, experience the space where the sea, mountains, and shrine become one.
Accessibility Information
The entrance is equipped with a ramp, and wooden ramps are installed at various points inside the shrine building.
Wheelchair-accessible pilgrimage route is available via the same single-stroke route as the regular route.
Admission fee is 100 yen upon presentation of a disability certificate.
Free wheelchair rental available at the ferry terminal (approximately 15 wheelchairs, first-come, first-served).
There are 7 accessible toilets on Miyajima Island.
Note: High-speed ferries departing from Hiroshima Port (World Heritage Route) are not wheelchair accessible. Please use the JR Ferry via Miyajimaguchi.
