  Sample and purchase popular Japanese sweets and mentaiko (spicy cod roe) in the basement floor of Hakata Hankyu, then enjoy duty-free shopping at drug stores and cosmetics at KITTE Hakata. This is a fulfilling course that will get you everything you need while keeping travel distances to a minimum.

• Cultural experiences and support in Hakata Old Town

  You can see the Yamakasa festival at Kushida Shrine and experience traditional culture at the fully barrier-free Hakata Machiya Furusatokan. Experienced guides and assistance staff will provide proper support even on stone-paved streets and uneven surfaces, so you can rest assured.

• Entertainment at Canal City Hakata

  The climax of your trip will be a fountain show and ramen lunch. There are 14 multi-purpose restrooms in the building, so you can enjoy shopping and the show at your own pace without worrying about time.

Itinerary

Hakata Station area (Tsubame no Mori Square, Hakata Hankyu, KITTE Hakata)

Hakata Station, the gateway to Kyushu, is more than just a transit point; it's a vast entertainment complex. First, avoid the crowds and head to Tsubame-no-Mori Hiroba on the station's rooftop. The elevator provides a smooth ride, offering panoramic views of Fukuoka city from 60 meters above ground. Here, you'll find the rare Railway Shrine, offering a truly Japanese-inspired photo with a torii gate and train in the background. Next, head to the underground food section of Hakata Hankyu (department store basement). Listen to a guide's explanations as you browse through the vibrant store, selecting seasonal Japanese sweets and Hakata specialty mentaiko (spicy cod roe). Wheelchair rentals and spacious restrooms provide ample shopping support. Next, head to the adjacent KITTE Hakata for duty-free shopping at cosmetics and drugstores, popular with international visitors. The sixth floor is equipped with restrooms with accessible beds, allowing you to focus on the joy of shopping with peace of mind.

Hakata Old Town (Kushida Shrine, Hakata Machiya Hometown Museum, Kawabata Shopping Arcade)

A short distance from the modern station lies the "Old Town" area, where Hakata's history lives on. Kushida Shrine is the shrine where the Hakata Gion Yamakasa festival is dedicated, and the enormous "decorative Yamakasa" that can be seen year-round is a spectacular sight. While there are some steps and slopes within the grounds, assistance from staff allows you to take commemorative photos in front of the Yamakasa, allowing you to enjoy a short but efficient time immersed in the essence of Hakata. For a deeper cultural experience, head to the nearby Hakata Machiya Furusatokan. This facility is fully barrier-free, with elevators and wheelchair-accessible restrooms. Housed in a replica of a Meiji-era townhouse, the museum offers Hakata weaving demonstrations and historical exhibits, allowing you to comfortably view them in any weather. We head toward Canal City, passing through Kawabata Shopping Arcade, a covered arcade perfect for rainy days, and observing the everyday lives of Hakata residents.

Canal City Hakata

The highlight of this tour is Canal City Hakata, a complex of hotels, theaters, shops, and restaurants surrounding a canal. Begin with an authentic Hakata ramen lunch at the Ramen Stadium or other venues. Then, enjoy the spectacular Fountain Show, where water dances in time with the music. The tour follows an official schedule, so you won't miss anything. The building is equipped with ramps and elevators, making it extremely wheelchair accessible. Of particular note is the large number of accessible restrooms, with 14 located throughout the building, ensuring peace of mind wherever you are. Character goods shops and fashion brands are also plentiful, making it the perfect place to find souvenirs to remember your trip. Finally, take a break at a cafe before returning to Hakata Station for the final leg of the tour.

Examples of available care taxis

We use medium-sized vehicles with ramps that allow wheelchair users to get on and off smoothly. Unlike lift-type vehicles, there is less shaking, making for a safer ride.

A spacious taxi is available that can accommodate one wheelchair and 3-4 passengers.

Driver qualifications and assistance

Our drivers are qualified as "Home Helper Level 2 (currently: Nursing Care Worker Initial Training)" and "Guide Helper (Transportation Care Worker for the Totally Disabled)." They have not only driving skills, but also specialized knowledge in assisting passengers when boarding and disembarking, and ensuring safety during travel, so you can rest assured even if you are traveling alone.

Before applying for this tour, please be sure to confirm and agree to the following:

1. Tour contract type (scope of arrangements)

This tour package only includes accommodation and transportation between accommodations (transportation by care taxi, etc.). Other local sightseeing tours, activities, meals, and other services are all optional (separate contract, separate fee).

2. Arranging and changing accommodation and vehicle reservations

Accommodation facilities and nursing care taxis will be arranged based on availability at the time of application. Availability is constantly changing, so if the requested accommodation is fully booked or full, we may be unable to accommodate your request and may ask you to change to a facility or vehicle of an equivalent class, or we may be unable to arrange the accommodation at all. Please note that the nursing care taxi we arrange may not necessarily be the same vehicle or model as the one in the reference photo.

3. Scope of work and skills of care taxis

The primary purpose of the nursing care taxis we arrange is to "transport customers safely."

• Services included:

  General assistance with getting on and off the vehicle, and safe operation

• Services not included:

  Physical care other than boarding and disembarking (eating, toileting, etc.), medical care, detailed local tourist guide

  Please note that while some nursing care taxis may be able to provide English support or simple guides, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to arrange (assign) a vehicle and driver that can accommodate these needs, depending on the reservation situation, etc.

• Responsibility for illness and trouble during the trip

  We offer travel insurance and 24-hour medical consultation support in case you become ill or experience any other unforeseen circumstances during your trip.

  However, providing this support does not mean that we will bear any legal responsibility for such situations. All responsibility for illness, injury, accidents, or other troubles that occur during the trip rests solely with the traveler, and we cannot be held liable for any damages. Please be sure to take care of your own health and safety before participating.
